WASHINGTON – Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, and Congressman Marion Berry (AR-01) announced today that Fulton County Hospital will receive a $3,400,000 loan from the United States Department of Agriculture to expand its hospital facilities. The hospital will use this Community Facility loan to build an 18,397 square foot addition that will house new emergency, surgery, imaging, and laboratory departments as well as a new main entrance and dining room.
USDA’s Community Facility direct loan program provides loans to public entities and nonprofit corporations for the development of essential community facilities. The program focuses its resources in rural areas and towns with a population of 20,000 or less.
"Arkansans deserve access to the best health care services that we can provide," said Senator Lincoln. "These federal dollars will allow the Fulton County Hospital to expand its facilities and better serve the people of the community."
“The expansion of the Fulton County Hospital is a vital step towards improving the health care of local residents. I believe it will also foster development well beyond the walls of the new hospital,” Senator Pryor said. “This assistance is a shining example how government should work, and I will continue to be a strong advocate for programs that prioritize health care for rural areas.”
“This USDA loan marks the beginning of a major transformation for Fulton County Hospital that will significantly improve the quality of health care for area residents,” said Congressman Berry. “I am pleased to see Fulton County taking advantage of federal funds to expand its medical facilities and promote further growth and development in the region.”
