I ask that all Arkansans take a moment this week to remember not only our great founding fathers for laying the groundwork of our liberties, but also to the young men and women, sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, who are fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with these brave soldiers who cannot be with their families this holiday season. I also hope that you will join me and remember those who may not have family or friends with whom to share a holiday meal. On Wednesday, my wife, Holly, our children, Sydney and Alex, and I continued our annual tradition and delivered meals with the Meals on Wheels Program to seniors in Garland County who are unable to leave their homes and cannot cook for themselves. I hope that during this holiday you will not only reflect on all of your blessings and remember to give thanks, but also reach out to a neighbor or to a community member in need—for this is the true meaning of the holiday season. |
