City and County of Honolulu 650 S King Street Honolulu, HI 96831 Honolulu Rail Transit Project; (no amount) Requested funds would be used for the final design and construction of the Honolulu Rail Transit Project, which consists of a 20-mile minimum Operable Segment in a 30 mile long east-west corridor between Kapolei and the University of Hawaii with possible future extensions to Waikiki in the east and West Kapolei. The project is part of Honolulu’s multimodal effort to mitigate ever growing auto congestion and improve urban mobility for transit dependent residents.
City and County of Honolulu 650 South King Street, 3rd Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813 Joint Traffic Management Center; $48,000,000 Requested funds would be used to plan, design and construct a Joint Traffic Management Center at the existing Alapai Transit Center site in downtown Honolulu, Hawaii. The Joint Traffic Management Center would improve public safety and increase agency efficiency by providing a single operational center for State and County coordination of traffic and emergency operations.
Hawaii Department of Transportation 869 Punchbowl Street Honolulu, HI 96813-5097 Pearl City and Waimalu Viaducts; $28,000,000 Requested funds would be used to construct improvements and repairs to the Interstate H-1 Pearl City and Waimalu Viaduct structures.
Hawaii Department of Transportation 869 Punchbowl Street Honolulu, HI 96813-5097 Statewide Highway Pavement Preservation; $16,000,000 Requested funds would be used to rehabilitate and preserve state highways through various techniques such as slurry seals, chip seals, and asphalt overlays, as part of the Statewide Pavement Preservation Program.
Hawaii Department of Transportation 869 Punchbowl Street Honolulu, HI 96813-5097 Contraflow System; $52,000,000 Requested funds would be used to construct a contraflow system on the H-1 Freeway in the East-bound direction from the vicinity of Waikele to the vicinity of the Airport Interchange to facilitate contraflow operations during the afternoon peak hours of traffic. The existing morning zipper-lane barrier system will be permanently fixed in the open position on the West-bound lane as part of this project.
