| Washington, DC -
Dear Art Teacher:
It is once again time to think about the annual Eighth District Art Competition. This competition is in its seventeenth year in Southern Missouri, and I expect it to be just as exciting and talent-filled as ever.
The format is basically the same as last year. All artwork entered into the competition will be on display at the spring meeting of the Missouri State Teachers Association in Academic Auditorium, on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The winners' artwork will be displayed on easels. Each entrant will receive a certificate of participation, a medal will be presented to each of the ten finalists, and an engraved silver bowl to the winner at the Missouri State Teachers Association's General Session. The Grand Prize winning piece will go on to represent the Eighth District in the Congressional exhibition in Washington, DC.
The Eighth District has demonstrated outstanding talent among high school students in the past, and I look forward to even greater participation this year.
At the present time, I am looking for a general idea of the interest in this competition. I am linking a copy of the contest rules and regulations for your perusal, as well as an entry form that you may print out for use. You will note that only one entry per student is allowed.
Please announce the contest to your students and then contact my Cape Girardeau District office, with the number of participants you expect to have. I am truly looking forward to your reply. With best regards, I remain
Sincerely,
JO ANN EMERSON Member of Congress |
