Congressman Andrews supports $16.3M award for genetic research at Camden’s Coriell Institute
Haddon Heights, NJ – Congressman Andrews is pleased to announce that the Coriell Institute for Medical Research has won a nationwide competition and will receive a five-year, $16.3 million contract from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This award will enable Coriell to continue to serve as the home of the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), which focuses on improving human health by accelerating the discovery of genetic risk factors for neurological disease.
As America's health care premiums continue to spiral out of control and millions of American's struggle without coverage, the advancements made by the NINDS will allow medical personnel around the world to develop more innovative and cost-effective methods to treating genetic diseases. The NINDS Repository will build on Coriell's strong reputation for providing the highest quality genetic resources available and its groundbreaking discoveries will improve the quality of life for people all over the world.
Congressman Andrews is a long-time supporter of the Coriell Institute and he is proud that such remarkable biomedical breakthroughs are being discovered right here in Camden City, New Jersey.
