City of Jersey City - Multi-Use Urban Boulevard

Amount Requested: $1,500,000
The purpose of the project is to design and construct an alternate route to divert through trucks away from Routes 440 and Route 1&9T in Jersey City.  This will accommodate anticipated future port area growth, as well as facilitate the redevelopment of the Bayfront Redevelopment Area on the West Side of Jersey City.  This project is a component of the Routes 440/1-9T Multi-Use Urban Boulevard Project. This project will create the next generation of highway linkages to the Hudson County New Jersey ports in Jersey City and Bayonne that will accommodate anticipated future port area growth.  The alternate truck route will improve mobility between the port areas in Jersey City and Bayonne and the distribution centers throughout the Liberty International Intermodal Corridor and nationwide.
