Funds will be used to commercialize low-defect silicon carbide wafer production process for the Department of Defense and commercial customers.  Silicon carbide devices can manage large amounts of electrical power efficiently and instantaneously, which will improve the efficiency and tactical abilities of directed energy systems and all-electric vehicle platforms.
