Funds would be used to obtain necessary approvals, design the interchange, purchase right-of-ways, construct interim improvements, and, as funds allow, construct a portion of the full improvements necessary for the Highway 26/Shute Road interchange. This interchange is located in the heart of Hillsboro's industrial high-tech employment and manufacturing area, where it serves approximately 25,000 vehicles daily and has reached 98 percent capacity. Improvements would improve interchange capacity, including but not limited to reconstruction of ramps, construction of a loop off-ramp, widening of the bridge structure, and the relocation or widening of roads.
