Funds the design and construction of a segment of the 15-mile Council Creek Regional Multi-Use Trail, which will run from the west end of the existing City of Hillsboro high-capacity light-rail station through the cities of Cornelius and Forest Grove to the City of Banks, connecting to the existing Banks/Vernonia State Trail. This project aims to serve as a primary transportation conduit for bicycle and pedestrian travel, providing recreational opportunities and an alternative mode of transportation, increasing multi-model travel options between town centers and the Hillsboro Regional Center, connecting west metro-area cities, and providing alternative modes of travel to a variety of land uses (i.e. commercial, industrial, and residential). The trail would provide easy access to U.S. Highway 26 and connect to the new Stub Stuart State Park. It also would close the gap in a larger approximately 80-mile regional loop including the Crown Zellerbach Trail, Rock Creek Trail, and a future 127-mile trail to the Oregon coast (Path to the Pacific), which would be a signature brand for the state.
