Newberg-Dundee Transportation Improvement Project
Oregon Department of Transportation, Highway Division

Funds the first phase of the Newberg-Dundee Transportation Improvement Project, which would build a two-lane rural highway with at-grade intersections from OR-219 in Newberg to OR-99W just southwest of Dundee.  Oregon 99W, a National Highway System route and designated freight corridor, serves as a key connection between the communities of Yamhill County and the Portland metro region.  The highway also faces heavy volumes of through-traffic traveling from the Portland area to popular tourist destinations along the Oregon coast.  Over the past decade, traffic on OR 99W through the towns of Newberg and Dundee has increased by about 40 percent, and congestion is expected to increase substantially over the next 20 years. Later phases of the Newberg-Dundee Bypass would include the completion of a new 11-mile highway to allow through traffic to bypass the communities of Newberg and Dundee by extending the first phase construction northeast from OR 219 to OR 99W and further southwest of Dundee on a route parallel to OR 99W.
