Funds efforts to upgrade to next-generation traffic signal controllers and software, program signal software, install detection sensors and/or cameras, and upgrade communications equipment and connections at crucial locations on the regional arterial roadway network.  The Regional Arterial Management Program provides matching funds to help local transportation agencies in the Portland metropolitan region accomplish these goals.  The program would also deploy transit signal priority and emergency vehicle preemption in key corridors to improve transit and emergency response times.  It supports data collection for pre- and post-performance evaluation of corridors and traveler information.
