Street Car Planning and Alternatives Analysis
City of Portland, Oregon

Funds alternative analysis studies to expand the streetcar network to mixed-use commercial corridors beyond Portland's central city for up to three of the highest rated corridors in the Portland Streetcar System Plan.  Expanding the streetcar network would allow the city to strategically orient development and the future residential population to pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use, high-quality transit corridors.  Growth in the form of transit-oriented development in these corridors reduces infill development pressure on existing single-family residential neighborhoods and provides lifestyle choices so driving can be reduced and walking and biking encouraged.  Less driving reduces emissions that cause global warming, and increased walking provides health benefits.

Amount Requested: $2,500,000

Address: 1120 SW 5th Avenue, Suite 800, Portland, OR  97204
