Rogers Sworn In for 110th Congress
Says Supporting Armed Forces; Strengthening East Alabama’s
Economy and Nation’s Borders among Top Concerns

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  Standing on the floor of the House of Representatives today, Congressman Mike Rogers (R-Anniston) was sworn in as the Third District’s Congressional representative in Washington. This marks the beginning of Rogers’ third two-year term representing East Alabama in Congress.

“I am humbled once again to have the opportunity to serve as East Alabama’s voice in Washington,” Rogers said. “As always I hope folks will continue to contact me or any of my staff with their concerns, and I look forward once again to working with members on both sides of the aisle in Congress to help get things done for the people of the Third District.”

Rogers said with our nation at war he will continue to support strong and stable funding for our nation’s military, as well as continue to stand up for the interests of all the Third District’s military installations. “As we continue in the War on Terror it is imperative that our brave men and women in uniform have the best equipment we can provide them, and that our installations here at home remain prepared to meet that challenge,” he said.

A strong advocate of fair trade policies, Rogers says he will remain opposed to trade deals that the Third District’s major employers say will hurt their businesses and workers more than they will help. “Congress must continue to help strengthen our economy and stand up for our workers,” he said.

Rogers says he plans to remain a vocal advocate for helping seal our Nation’s borders, as well as helping fight waste, fraud and abuse in Federal government spending.

Rogers said he also plans to continue doing what he can to strengthen Social Security and Medicare for East Alabama’s seniors. Rogers said with the Farm Bill reauthorization up for consideration this year, he plans to continue to be a strong advocate for East Alabama’s farmers and agriculture interests.

Rogers said he hopes to continue serving on the Armed Services Committee, the Committee on Agriculture, and the Homeland Security Committee in Congress.
