Rogers Announces High Tech Equipment for Randolph County First Responders
Local law enforcement to receive vision devices

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  Randolph County law enforcement officials should soon have new cutting edge devices to help fight fires and better protect local citizens, Congressman Mike Rogers said today.

Known as Thermal Imagers for Fire Service Responders, the equipment is similar to a camera and enables fire responders to see in places of low or no visibility, like a smoke or debris-filled room. The devices are worth $8,337 each.

“This high tech tool should be helpful to local fire and rescue teams,” Rogers said. “I am delighted the Federal government has chosen to make these investments locally, and hope they will help support the ongoing efforts of Randolph County law enforcement.”

Rogers said the departments awarded include: Randolph County Rescue Squad and Corinth Volunteer Fire Department, each of which will receive a Thermal Imager.

Rogers is Ranking Member of the Homeland Security subcommittee on Management, Investigations and Oversight. Funding for the program is administered under the FY06 Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP), which included an expanded selection of equipment and is overseen by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
