Rogers Congratulates Tuskegee Airmen
Airmen honored today with Congressional Gold Medal

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  Congressman Mike Rogers congratulated the Tuskegee Airmen today for receiving the highest honor for civilians given by Congress, the Congressional Gold Medal.

President Bush presented the award on behalf of all Tuskegee Airmen today in a ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington.

“These courageous Americans served our nation with great honor and dignity, despite the challenges they faced back home. I am deeply proud that Congress has honored these brave men today for their service, their sacrifice, and their valor,” Rogers said today.

Last year Rogers was a co-sponsor of H.R. 1259, a resolution to “award a congressional gold medal on behalf of the Tuskegee Airmen, collectively, in recognition of their unique military record, which inspired revolutionary reform in the Armed Forces.”

Rogers represents Macon County in Congress, the historic site of Moton Field and the Tuskegee Airmen.
