WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor along with U.S. Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) today announced $6,678,500 for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service projects throughout the state. Funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009will provide National Wildlife Refuges and National Fish Hatcheries with help for construction costs, habitat restoration projects, and improved energy efficiency on public and private lands across the nation.
“I’m pleased to see our state receive these funds, which will help improve the wildlife refuges and hatcheries that so many Arkansans enjoy. This is exactly the type of priority I had in mind when I voted for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act earlier this year,” said Lincoln.
“These economic recovery funds are a win-win for Arkansas,” said Pryor. “They will create needed jobs while also protecting the habitats of our waterfowl, fish and other wildlife.”
"Arkansas is known as 'The Natural State' because our public lands and resources are not only world-renowned, they are an asset to our state's economy," said Berry. "This funding will make improvements to buildings, and create jobs in our state."
