| WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) today announced that Independence County will receive $3.4 million for the construction of a rail switching station and rail car storage facility, which will allow Batesville’s FutureFuel Chemical Company to expand its biodiesel production and create jobs. The funds are provided through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.
“FutureFuel is a leader in the biofuel industry and a top employer for the Batesville area. I’ve seen FutureFuel’s good work firsthand during my visit to the facility last year, and I am pleased the company has been able to access this funding. These funds will play an important role in helping to promote economic growth for the entire community,” said Lincoln.
“FutureFuel has been a trail blazer in the alternative energy industry, including biodiesel production. These federal dollars will foster alternative fuel resources while creating jobs and economic growth opportunities in the Batesville community,” Pryor said.
“The FutureFuel plant in Batesville has been a leader in biofuels and specialty chemical industry,” said Berry. “This funding will provide FutureFuel with additional resources to expand production and create additional jobs in the area. This investment will allow FutureFuel to continue to be a successful, thriving industry in Arkansas.”
