Senators Lincoln, Pryor and Rep. Berry Announce $26,000 for ASu

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor along with U.S. Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) announced today that Arkansas State University in Jonesboro has received a $26,411 grant from the Department of Health & Human Services. The funding will be used for nurse anesthetist traineeships.

“Arkansas health care professionals work hard each day to keep patients healthy and save lives. These funds will allow nurse anesthetists to gain the latest knowledge and research about their specialty. I’m pleased to see ASU receive this assistance, and I remain committed to ensuring that our state receives the resources and support it needs to stay strong,” said Lincoln.

“Nurse Anesthetists are the primary anesthesia providers in many rural parts of our state, oftentimes enabling medically underserved healthcare facilities to provide critical surgical procedures that could mean the difference between life and death,” said Pryor.  “These funds will not only benefit the health and well-being of our residents, but also ensure these medical professionals receive the proper skills and training to do their job well.”

"Arkansas State University and the College of Nursing and Health Programs have an excellent reputation of providing students with a quality education and valuable skills to succeed in their careers," said Berry.  "This funding will allow ASU to continue to give aspiring nurse anesthetists a first-class education, giving them the skills they need to save lives and help others."
