(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Rep. Mike Ross (AR-04) today announced that he now is accepting applications for the 2007 Congressional Summer Internship Program.
Summer Session One runs from May 30 – June 29, 2007 and Summer Session Two runs from July 9 – August 10, 2007 in Ross’s Washington, D.C. office. Summer internships are also available at Ross’s district offices located in Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, El Dorado, and Prescott. Interns may coordinate academic credit directly with their college or university. Washington, D.C. Summer Congressional Interns will receive a $1,500 stipend and subsidized metro transportation cards.
In order to be considered, an applicant must be at least eighteen years of age, a high school graduate, and enrolled or attending a college or university. All applications must be postmarked by March 5, 2007 in order to be considered. Ross strongly encourages applicants from Arkansas’s Fourth Congressional District to apply.
“The summer internship program is designed to give our future leaders an opportunity to learn first hand about our federal government and the legislative process. Participants of the Congressional Internship Program enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience what simply cannot be simulated in a classroom,” said Ross. “Congressional internships provide a unique setting for our students to not only understand the utmost importance of public service, but also to work on behalf of the people of Arkansas’s Fourth Congressional District.”
Any questions regarding the internship program such as dates, eligibility, or housing should be directed to Paige Burkham, Internship Coordinator of the Congressman Mike Ross Summer Internship Program. Those interested in an application may obtain an application from Ross’s website, http://www.house.gov/ross/pdf/intern.pdf; by email, mike.ross@mail.house.gov; or by calling 1-800-223-2220.
