Key Appropriations Bill in |

| (Washington, D.C.) U.S. Representative Mike Ross (AR-04) presided over the U.S. House of Representatives Friday, June 15th, when a record 24 consecutive recorded votes in a single vote series were held. The stretch of votes were the most in a single series of votes in U.S. House of Representatives history as the chamber wrapped up consideration and passed the Fiscal Year 2008 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill. During consideration of the annual appropriations bill, Ross presided over approximately eight hours of debate. “It was an honor to have the opportunity to preside over the House of Representatives as this record of 24 consecutive votes made history,” Ross said. “I have always had an interest in parliamentary procedure dating back to my 10 years of service in the Arkansas State Senate. Leading the procedural debate over the Homeland Security Appropriations bill was a true privilege, and I am grateful to the Speaker of the House for this opportunity.” Since the beginning of the 110th Congress, Ross has been frequently called upon by the Speaker of the House to preside over the U.S. House of Representatives where he has logged over 26 hours in the Speaker’s Chair. Because of this, and the weekly hour-long Special Order Ross leads as Co-chair of the fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition each Tuesday to demand fiscal responsibility and accountability from our government, Ross can frequently be seen on C-SPAN’s live coverage of the House floor. -30- |
