Ross Secures $200,000 in House for
Jefferson Regional Medical Center

(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Representative Mike Ross (AR-04) has successfully secured $200,000 for the Jefferson Regional Medical Center (JRMC) in Pine Bluff, in the Fiscal Year 2008 House Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Bill. The bill passed the full U.S. House of Representatives Thursday evening.

“As a member of the Health Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, I am proud to secure these important funds for the Jefferson Regional Medical Center,” Ross said. “Extending access to quality health care in rural areas is a goal of mine, and I will continue working to ensure our health care providers have the best facilities and technology available.”

Ross said the funds are intended to assist the Jefferson Regional Medical Center’s School of Nursing with state of the art technology and equipment. The appropriation would help fund a new computer lab, simulated mannequins and other teaching aids. These resources would help JRMC to recruit and train quality nursing students which are in critical need at the hospital.

Upon passage of the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Bill in the Senate, the measure will then go to a Conference Committee of House and Senate members who will work to combine both Chambers’ bills to form a Conference Report. Upon passage of the Conference Report by the full House and Senate, the final bill will then be sent to the President to be signed into law.
