Ross Helps Usher In I-530 Interchange

(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Representative Mike Ross (AR-04) helped break ground Monday on the future Interstate 530 Interchange/Interstate 69 Connector in Pine Bluff.

Arkansas’s road needs have been one of my top priorities in Washington, and bringing an Interstate to Southeast Arkansas sits atop that list,” Ross said. “Projects like the I-530 Interchange remind us all of the strong need to begin to invest in America again. I strongly believe that good infrastructure is the key to attracting business and industry to our state, and with the combination of developing Arkansas’s first-class roadways, rail opportunities, ports, and inland waterways, this Interchange will serve as a critical element for transporting products in and out of this country.”

The I-530 Interchange will consist of four bridges to be constructed as part of a plan that will carry traffic from I-69 to Highway 278 in Wilmar.

“I will continue working to ensure the completion of I-69 and the feasibility study of bringing I-530 to I-20, as well as my continued support for the Bradley and Drew County inter-model facility and the Yellow Bend Port,” Ross said. “These projects will play a critical role towards bringing much-needed economic development to the Delta region.”

Interstate 530 is a nearly 47 mile long spur route from Little Rock at the junction of Interstate 30 and Interstate 440 to Pine Bluff. It was commissioned August 2, 1999, over the existing U.S. 65 freeway on the same day that the Pine Bluff bypass was opened to traffic.
