Ross: $440,000 for Drew County
Memorial Hospital In Final Bill

(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Representative Mike Ross (AR-04) announced that $440,000 for the Drew County Memorial Hospital in Monticello, is included in the Fiscal Year 2008 House Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Conference Report.

The Conference Report passed the full U.S. House of Representatives Tuesday evening and is expected to pass the Senate later this week. Ross commended Arkansas’s Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, for their work in the Senate to help secure this funding in the final Conference Report.

Ross said the funds will be used for the construction of facilities and for the purchase of equipment for Drew County Memorial Hospital.

“As a member of the Health Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, I am proud to secure these important funds for the Drew County Memorial Hospital,” Ross said. “Extending access to quality health care in rural areas is a top concern of our local communities, particularly our Delta communities, and I will continue working to ensure our health care providers have the best facilities and technology available.”

Upon passage of the Labor, Health and Human Services Conference Report in the Senate, the measure will then be sent to the President which he has threatened to veto.

“It is my hope that the President will understand the critical needs of our health care providers and sign this bill into law because improving our nation’s health care infrastructure should not be delayed due to partisan politics,” Ross said.
