Ross Elected To Key Leadership Post of
Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association

(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Representative Mike Ross (AR-04) was elected to the post of Second Vice President of the Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association at their 2007 Annual Meeting, in New Orleans. Ross was selected by the Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association’s Nominating Committee and Executive Committee due to his work in Congress in support of the association, and for his efforts to secure federal funding for projects impacting the towns and people of the Lower Mississippi Valley.

“Protecting and improving our nation’s precious infrastructure and waterways will always be one of my top priorities in Congress,” Ross said. “For the past 72 years, the Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association has played a critical role as the body that facilitates necessary dialogue between groups at the local, county, state and federal levels. As a leader of the Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association, I will emphasize in Congress the importance of the water resource needs on the Mississippi River.”

Ross joins fellow colleagues Rep. Leonard Boswell (IA-03) who serves as President, and Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01) who serves as First Vice President, as Congress’ only elected officers to the group. George Grugett is currently serving as Executive Vice President of the association.

“Mr. George Grugett has done an exceptional job leading this important association, and I am proud to join my Congressional colleagues and him to continue the charge in Washington on behalf of the Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association,” Ross said. “It is time to begin investing in America again and I will continue to work to secure the required funding and resources needed to move essential priorities of the Lower Mississippi Valley forward.”

The Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association has worked over the past 72 years to build awareness and develop solutions surrounding the issues of flood control, bank stabilization, drainage and navigation. The organization acts as a unified voice for local officials from Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana, to discuss and plan flood control projects in the Lower Mississippi Valley.
