(FLAGSTAFF, AZ ) - U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (AZ-01) and the First District’s “No Child Left Behind Congressional Advisory Council,” will meet this Wednesday, August 30, with House Education & the Workforce Committee Chairman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA), the highest ranking education official in the House, to discuss ways to strengthen and improve No Child Left Behind when the legislation is reauthorized by Congress next year. The meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. at W.F. Killip Elementary School, located at 2300 East 6th Avenue, in Flagstaff, and a press availability will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. in the same location.

The House of Representatives approved the No Child Left Behind Act on December 13, 2001. Signed into law on January 8, 2002, the measure is a comprehensive overhaul of the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) built on principles of accountability for results; local control and flexibility; expanded parental choice; and increased funding for what works.
