Renzi Announces Grant for Casa Grande Fire Department
Federal funds will be used for fire prevention and safety program

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (AZ-1) announced today that the City of Casa Grande Fire Department has been awarded a $62,120 federal grant under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program.

The grant, provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration, will be used to fund a fire prevention and safety project. The project will help educate residents of Casa Grande on how to protect themselves from fire and fire related hazards. The department will also purchase a combination fire sprinkler and fire safety house that will demonstrate the effectiveness of fire sprinkler systems.

"I am thrilled that FEMA has awarded this fire prevention and safety grant to the Casa Grande Fire Department," said Congressman Renzi. "The grant will be used to fund programs that will inform members of the community on precautions they can take to protect themselves. I applaud the first responders of Casa Grande for recognizing the importance of educating the public about fire safety."

"This combination fire sprinkler and fire safety house will be utilized by the City of Casa Grande Fire Department to educate our community on proper fire safety behaviors and the value that a sprinkler system installed in their home or business provides them," said Fire Chief Scott R. Miller. "We are very appreciative of the funding provided by FEMA for this new training tool to make our community safer."

This grant is a part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to strengthen the Nation’s overall level of preparedness and ability to respond to fire related hazards.
