WASHINGTON, D.C.- U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (AZ-01) announced today that Chinle Unified School District will be receiving a federal grant of $148,143.00.
This Department of Education grant will be used to implement a program to improve education outcomes in the Chinle Unified School District.
“I am pleased to announce this educational grant for Chinle,” said Congressman Renzi. “I was especially thrilled to hear that a portion of the funds will be used to implement family-based preschool and literacy programs, so that parents are given the opportunity to learn how to help their children succeed in school.”
The Chinle Unified School District plans to use this grant for the Compass Learning and Advanced Placement Program, as well as for kindergarten. A portion of the funds will provide family-based preschool and literacy programs that emphasize kindergarten readiness and parental skills, provision of services to children with disabilities, and activities that recognize and support the unique cultural and educational needs of Native American children. Part of the grant will be used specifically for high school students that will include after-school tutoring and professional development for teachers.
