WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (AZ-01) announced today that the Eloy Fire District will be receiving $39,520 in federal funds to enhance the fire department’s ability to respond to fire and fire related hazards. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the Assistance to Firefighters Grants.
“After a recent tour of the Eloy Fire District I learned of the need for the city’s first responders to have state of the art communication tools in order to respond head on to fire emergencies,” said Congressman Renzi. “I am pleased that through this DHS grant, the Eloy Fire District will be able to purchase their much needed communications equipment.”
“It was extremely exciting to hear that we had been awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant through the Department of Homeland Security,” said Fire Marshal Bob Poindexter. “The award will be use on a project to purchase and install much needed communication equipment that will enable our firefighters and officers to talk to each other during firefighting and rescue operations. This is a critical need for the protection of our firefighters and our citizens.”
This grant is a part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to strengthen the Nation’s overall level of preparedness and ability to respond to fire related hazards.
