Renzi Announces Grant for Yavapai-Apache Nation
Funds will provide alcohol and drug prevention and treatment resources for youth

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (AZ-01) announced today that the Yavapai-Apache Nation will be receiving a federal grant of $275,055.

This Tribal Youth Program Grant will be distributed from the Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Funds will specifically provide funding for alcohol and drug prevention and treatment programs for youth ages 6 to 12 years old.

“I am pleased that the Yavapai-Apache Nation will be receiving this important funding,” said Congressman Renzi. “The existing problem of drug and alcohol abuse is a continuous battle among Native American youth. Through this federal grant program, tribes are given the tools needed to help decrease the amount of youth combating drug and alcohol abuse.”

The Yavapai-Apache Nation plans to develop programs that will promote communication and teamwork, and increase the number of families participating in tribal youth programs and activities.

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention works to support states, tribes, and communities across the nation to provide national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond to juvenile delinquency and victimization.
