Renzi Rises to Support

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Legislation

Bill condemns the recent vandalism to the Memorial

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (AZ-01) announced today his co-sponsorship of H.Res.680, legislation condemning the recent vandalism of the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial.

On September 7, 2007 an oily substance was found on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, located in Washington, D.C. Police determined that the damage to the Memorial was an act of vandalism. Dedicated in 1982, the Wall holds the names of more than 58,000 men and women killed or missing in the Vietnam War.

"I am pleased to announce my support of this legislation," said Congressman Renzi. "This act of vandalism is unacceptable and deserves to be condemned by the entire U.S. House of Representatives. Our country can never fully repay our service members who make the ultimate sacrifice, but we will continue to remember and honor those who served with the highest respect."

H.Res.680 was introduced by Congressman John Carter (R-TX) and referred to the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
