March 28, 2007—Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) voted today to pass the Wounded Warriors Assistance Act, an overwhelmingly bipartisan measure providing the resources necessary to ensure that our military service men and women receive the highest quality of medical care.
Franks said, “American soldiers wounded on the battlefield deserve our unequivocal support. These courageous men and women have made unimaginable sacrifices to secure the front lines on the battlefield of freedom. This legislation provides the mechanisms necessary, as Abraham Lincoln said, to ‘bind up the nation’s wounds, and care for him who shall have borne the battle.’”
The Wounded Warrior Assistance Act of 2007 provides vitally important personnel, training, and oversight for military medical facilities, in order to ensure that our wounded warriors receive the very finest in medical care, housing facilities, and rehabilitative treatment. Included in the Act is an amendment authored by Congressman Franks, requiring that complaints and other information voiced by military veterans via a toll-free hotline are consistently reported to Members of Congress serving on Armed Services Committees. The legislation passed today by a vote of 426-0.
Congressman Franks is serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives, and is a member of the Committee on Armed Services, Strategic Forces Subcommittee, Readiness Subcommittee, Committee on the Judiciary, and is Ranking Member on the Constitution Subcommittee.
