Washington, D.C. – Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) signed on as an original co-sponsor of H.J.Res. 18, a resolution to redeploy U.S. forces from Iraq that was re-introduced by Representative John Murtha (D-PA) yesterday.
H.J.Res 18 calls for a redeployment of U.S. forces from Iraq at the earliest practicable date while maintaining a quick-reaction U.S. force and an over-the-horizon presence of U.S. Marines. Rep. Lofgren was a co-sponsor of Rep. Murtha’s original resolution calling for a redeployment of U.S. forces in November, 2005.
"I have had the honor of serving with Jack Murtha for over a decade in the House of Representatives and have been a proud supporter of his call for troop redeployment since the beginning," said Rep. Lofgren. "I am again co-sponsoring Rep. Murtha’s resolution because, like him, I feel that the solution to the war in Iraq has to be a diplomatic one."
