Washington, D.C. - Congressman Howard Berman, Ranking Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement in response to the series of terrorist attacks today on the road leading from the Israeli-Egyptian border to Eilat.
 
“I am alarmed by today’s heinous terrorist attack against Israel.  The terrorists' deadly coordinated attack against civilian targets demonstrates that the threat posed by Hamas and their supporters remains strong.  This week, Hamas went so far as to shut down protests in Gaza against Syrian President Bashar Assad.  The Syria-Hamas-Iran partnership of murder must be held accountable for their crimes.  With ever-increasing instability taking shape on Israel’s southern and northern borders Israel must remain vigilant.  I stand ready to assist Israel defend itself against all terrorist aggression.”
