Watson Statement on Eighth Anniversary of September 11

Washington, D.C. – Representative Diane E. Watson released the following statement today on the eighth anniversary of September 11:

“Each year we remember the victims and honor the heroes of that fateful morning eight years ago. We remember the nearly 3,000 Americans whose lives were taken during this unspeakable tragedy.  We also must not forget the first responders, the rescue workers and citizens who perished trying to save others.

“I urge each of you to take a moment and reflect on where you were on that day and what you were doing. It's probably a moment you will never forget. The same holds true for the entire nation. Each one of us was touched by this tragedy and we will carry the images and the pain we felt during those moments for a lifetime."

"More important, we must remember the hope that was born out of the unity that we all felt in the wake of the attacks and how as a nation we bonded and moved forward. On this day, we commemorate the fallen of 9/11 and honor their sacrifice.”
