Completion of Border Fence is Essential to National Security

(Washington D.C.)- Congressman Brian Bilbray, Chairman of the Immigration Reform Caucus, issued the following statement today regarding a report from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Ralph Basham that completion of the 670 mile border fence may not be completed by the end of the year as initially planned:   

“Securing our borders is essential if we are to truly achieve a safe and secure homeland.  Right now, our southern border is the main front of an escalating drug war that has claimed the lives of more innocent people than the lives lost fighting the War on Terror.  The longer the delay to build the border fence, the more lives we put at risk.”
