Salazar Commends Interior Decision on Oil Shale
Washington, D.C. – Congressman John T. Salazar issued the following statement in response to the decision by Secretary Salazar and the Department of Interior to offer a second round of research, development, and demonstration leases in Colorado and Utah and withdraw the previous administration’s proposal for expanded RD&D leases:
“The decision announced today by Secretary Salazar and the Department of Interior is the right path forward for oil shale development. I support the Secretary’s decision to announce a second round of RD&D leases, and withdraw the previous administration’s flawed proposal.
“Moving forward in this manner will allow us to take into account the impacts on water, power and local communities.”
