| Washington, D.C.—Congressman King today reminded young men and women wishing to apply for a nomination to Service Academy classes commencing in the Summer of 2008 must submit their application materials to King’s Storm Lake office by
Thursday, November 1, 2007.
The nation’s Service Academies include the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs and the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.
Congressman King will nominate constituents from Iowa’s 5th Congressional District. Admission decisions and appointment offers are made solely by each individual Service Academy. Students interested in applying for admission to a Service Academy should consult with their guidance counselor for information about the application process and contact Congressman King’s Storm Lake office for nomination information.
A Service Academy selection committee appointed by King conducts personal interviews with nomination finalists. Finalists are selected through a competitive method of screening, including the evaluation of ACT or SAT scores, high school grade point average, leadership abilities and physical aptitude.
Inquiries and applications should be directed to Rep. Steve King, 800 Oneida St., Suite A, Storm Lake, Iowa 50588, phone 712-732-4217 or fax 712-732-4217 with the applicants contact information.
