King Applauds Choice of Nominee for Agriculture Secretary
Washington, D.C.—Congressman Steve King, a member of the House of Representatives Agriculture Committee, applauded the President’s nomination of Governor Ed Schafer to be his Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Mr. Schafer served as Governor of North Dakota from 1992-2000.
"I am very pleased that Governor Schafer is the President’s nominee to lead the administration’s agriculture policy. As Congress continues work on an updated Farm Bill, our coordination with the U.S. Department of Agriculture remains vital. The future of farming, including our bio-fuels industry, in Iowa and the entire country is being formed right now. Considering the high stakes, I hope the Senate moves quickly to confirm Governor Schafer," said King.
