| Washington, D.C.—Congressman Steve King today responded to the U.S. Senate voting to revive the McCain-Kennedy immigration amnesty bill.
“Elitism is alive and well in the U.S. Senate. By voting to revive the amnesty bill, they have intentionally ignored the voters. The American people rose up and killed this amnesty bill on June 7th, almost three weeks ago. The President relentlessly pressured the Senate that is now poised to pardon immigration lawbreakers and reward them with the objective of their crime. This is amnesty for 12-20 million or more people,” stated King.
“The federal government is likely the largest employer of illegals in America. Illegal employees in our government number in the tens of thousands. The federal government is the only employer in America that employs illegals but also has the tools to identify and remove their own illegal employees. The Administration must get their own house in order. How could anyone trust them to operate ANY new immigration program, let alone one that grants amnesty to 12-20 million or more people?” asked King.
Finally, he urged, “If, like me, you reject this amnesty bill, and your Senator is pro-amnesty, call them now! Dial 202-225-3121 and ask for the Senator.”
Congressman Steve King (R-IA) is the top Republican on the Immigration Subcommittee of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee. He is also Chairman of the innovative Conservative Opportunity Society, founded by Newt Gingrich.
