| Washington, D.C.- Congressman Steve King today expressed his gratitude to Iowa National Guard as two units are mobilized as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The two units being deployed are Company D, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry based in Dennison and Troop A, 1st Squadron, 113th Calvary based at Camp Dodge in Johnston.
“I am humbled by the selfless service of the men and women of our Iowa National Guard and their families. Every member of a Guard family sacrifices for this entire country. We owe each and everyone of them humility for their work and sacrifice and support for their mission,” said King.
Our Greatest Generation defeated Nazi and Japanese fascists around the globe. This generation is called to defeat Islamic Jihad fascists in Iraq, Afghanistan and anywhere else they emerge.
The Guard is made up of citizen soldiers from throughout Iowa who drive to Dennison and Camp Dodge.
Ceremonies for the Iowa National Guard mobilization will be held Wednesday, June 6 in Dennison and Camp Dodge.
