| Washington, D.C.— Congressman Steve King joined Coon Rapids, Iowa community leader Dan Brouse at an event hosted by First Lady Laura Bush to honor communities for preserving American heritage. Coon Rapids is a newly named “Preserve America Community.”
“Iowa represents much of what we value about our American heritage. What a thrill that a small community like Coon Rapids has been added to the list of Iowa communities that steward that heritage. This just goes to show that if Americans look for authentic culture, they should come to Iowa. Congratulations to the citizens of Coon Rapids for their leadership,” said King.
“Preserve America”, a White House initiative, seeks to recognize and support the preservation of our national cultural and natural heritage assets. Coon Rapids joins Davenport, Dubuque, Fort Madison, Mason City, Oskaloosa, Sioux City and Waterloo on the list of Iowa communities recognized by “Preserve America”.
Congressman Steve King (R-IA) represents Western Iowa in the United States Congress and sits on the Agriculture, Judiciary and Small Business Committees. He is also Chairman of the innovative Conservative Opportunity Society, founded by Newt Gingrich.
