Rush says Senate Confirmation of Sonya Sotomayor is a 'giant step' forward for America

CHICAGO – Today, U. S. Rep. Bobby L. Rush (D-IL), applauded the U.S. Senate for confirming Sonia Sotomayor to replace retiring Justice David H. Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court.  She is the first Latino American to hold a seat on the high court.

"This is a bright day for American justice," Rush said. "Justice Sotomayor brings her raw life experiences and keen awareness on the plight of those in the margins to the Supreme Court. I look forward to her tenure. This is another giant step forward for America."
