Rep. Johnson Announces Saline, White Counties to Receive Rural Development Grants
Community Facility Program through USDA offers money for a variety of improvement projects

Washington DC…U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (IL-15) has secured Rural Development grant money for three separate projects in Southeastern Illinois.  Saline and White Counties will see the benefits of the dollars that come from the USDA Rural Development, Community Facility Grant Program.

“Rural Development grants play a critical role in the infrastructure and really the quality of life in small towns,” said Rep. Johnson.  “I work closely with USDA Rural Development and will continue seeking grant money for the numerous communities in my District.”

The list of Rural Development grants coming to Southeastern Illinois and the projects for which they are intended includes:

Saline County             $20,000         For the purchase of equipment for 911 System

White County             $12,950         For the purchase of equipment for use in the

public ambulance service building and vehicles

White County             $6000            For the purchase of equipment for use in the

                                                                    township and community building project

Rep. Johnson noted that Rep. John Shimkus (IL-19) was instrumental in helping obtain the $6000 for White County, specifically the Heralds Prairie Township’s community building project.

“Federal grants and special loans are available through many of the Departments in the U.S. Government,” stated Johnson.  “I encourage communities that are considering community improvement projects to contact my office and find out what assistance might be available.”
