Rep. Johnson Announces Annual
Town Hall Meeting Schedule
Congressman says “accessibility to constituents” continues to be his priority

Washington DC…In an attempt to remain accessible to his constituency, U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (IL-15) is once again hosting Town Hall Meetings at various locations around the 15th District.  Congressman Johnson organizes a series of these forums each August when the U.S. House of Representatives breaks for the Summer District Work Period.

“Serving constituents is what this job is all about,” noted Johnson.  “My primary role as 15th District Congressman is to assure that people are treated equally and fairly when dealing with a government agency.  For example, I want to make certain that a young family who overpaid the IRS is compensated; I want to assist an elderly widow whose monthly Social Security check may have gotten lost in the mail; I can help a Veteran cut through the bureaucracy to gain access to medical facilities at the Veterans Administration; and I will exhaust all resources to help a given municipality correct an existing infrastructure problem.”

This August, Rep. Johnson will host four Town Hall Meetings in the expansive 15th District.  Constituents who would like to bring problems to the Congressman’s attention, or to express a position on a legislative issue are encouraged to attend any of the four upcoming meetings:

August 4th         Sullivan Public Library (2 W. Water St.)       7-8 pm

August 5th         Clinton City Hall (118 W. Washington)           7-8 pm

August 6th         Hoopeston City Hall (301 W. Main)               7-8 pm

August 7th         Robinson Community Center (300 S. Lincoln)      7-8 pm

“Since taking this office in 2001, I have made it a priority to put my constituents and their needs first,” said Johnson.  “Besides establishing five permanent offices, I have created a Mobile Office Hours Program that reaches all 22 counties in my District.  In addition, I maintain an active schedule on weekends and other periods when I’m not in Washington, traveling to all corners of the 15th District in order to keep in regular touch with folks from Eldorado all the way to Chebanse.  I truly appreciate meeting and assisting the thousands of constituents with whom I come in to contact.  I look forward to a great turnout at my upcoming Town Hall Meetings.”
