Rep. Johnson Announces Crawford, Iroquois, Vermilion and Wabash County Fire Departments Earn Federal Assistance
15th District Fire Departments get money to enhance operations and safety

Washington DC… The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) are awarding fire departments nationwide, millions of dollars in grants this month to focus on interdepartmental fire operations and fire safety.  U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (IL-15) is proud to report that four 15th District fire departments have earned these federal matching dollar awards:

Allendale Rural Fire Protection District,   Wabash County  $81,864
Rankin Fire Protection District,    Vermilion County  $95,490
Prairie-Licking Fire Protection District,   Crawford County  $43,200
Danforth Township Fire Protection District,   Iroquois County  $56,508

“Rural fire departments throughout my district provide excellent service to their communities and I am happy to have assisted in their earning FEMA grants,” said Johnson.  “When fire departments in rural communities like Annapolis, Danforth, Rankin and Allendale contact me, looking for funding to improve the safety and infrastructure of their communities, I do not hesitate to seek out available funds and send them to the deserving fire departments, especially at a time of heightened awareness for American emergency professionals.

The FEMA and USFA dollars coming to the listed fire departments are going to help implement the Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program at each department.  This program enhances interdepartmental training activities, wellness and fitness activities, firefighting equipment acquisition and personal protective equipment acquisition.  The federal dollars come from the ‘Assistance to Firefighters Program.’
