Champaign, IL...U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (IL-15) announced today that Cissna Park in Iroquois County has been approved for a loan guarantee to build a new community center. Rep. Johnson said the United States Department of Agriculture has approved a $1,250,000 Rural Development loan guarantee to Cissna Park Community Life Development, Inc. The Bank of Rantoul will manage the financing.
"This is very exciting news for everyone in Cissna Park and surrounding communities," said Johnson. Cissna Park Community Life Development has been very creative in designing plans for a community center that will serve both townspeople and residents at Creekside Prairie, the adjacent senior independent living retirement village. Not always do towns with fewer than one-thousand residents have the amenities of the larger cities, but Cissna Park will certainly be an exception."
Rural Development funds will be used to construct a 16,000 square foot community center that includes a senior center, fitness center, swimming pool, dining facilities, some retail rental space and other facilities to serve the community, nearby schools and the 64 unit senior retirement center under construction nearby.
