Washington, D.C. – Congressman Pete Visclosky today announced that the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Indiana in Gary has been awarded a U.S. Department of Education Mentoring Program Grant in the amount of $193,036.
“It is essential that we provide all of our children with the resources they need to succeed in school and in life,” said Visclosky. “I am pleased this funding will help the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Indiana improve the lives of many of Northwest Indiana’s most disadvantaged children.”
The grant is part of the Department of Education’s Mentoring Program and will be used for mentoring programs for children with the greatest need by assisting them in receiving support and guidance from a mentor and for improving the academic achievement of these children.
