MORAN STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF CLINT UPCHURCH
OF GARDEN CITY

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Jerry Moran today offered a statement on the death of Specialist Clint Upchurch, 31, of Garden City. Upchurch died on January 7 in Iraq during patrol operations when his convoy was attacked by an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. He served as a military police officer and had been in Iraq for three months. Before joining the military, Upchurch was a Finney County Sheriff’s Deputy.

“My family and I offer our prayers and deepest sympathy to the Upchurch family on the loss of Clint. Clint was a dedicated public servant, putting his community and his country before himself, in peacetime and in war. It is his spirit - found in so many Americans - that protects our freedom and makes this country great. We will not forget this hero and the sacrifice he made for our nation.”
