HAYS — Congressman Jerry Moran today announced that Drew Thomas of Hays is an intern in Moran’s Hays office.
“The internship program provides a great way for young people to gain practical work experience while learning about the federal government,” Moran said. “I am happy to have Drew working on behalf of Kansans.”
Thomas is a 1999 graduate of Hays High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Kansas, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Studies. While at KU, Thomas was involved in student senate and university council. He is also involved in the Hays Masonic Lodge #195. He is currently pursuing his teaching certificate at Fort Hays State University and upon graduation plans to teach English or history and coach debate and forensics upon graduation.
“This is a great chance for me to serve and learn from a great Congressman,” Thomas said. “I cherish this opportunity and will do my very best for the people of the First District.”
In the office, Thomas will assist Congressman Moran with legislative and administrative duties on behalf of the people of Kansas’ First Congressional District.
Drew is the son of Duane and Theresa Thomas and Dennis and Denise Johnson, all of Hays.
