WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Jerry Moran today announced that Amanda Mead of Kismet is an intern in his Washington, D.C., office. Mead is a 2001 graduate of Southwestern Heights High School in Kismet.
“The internship program provides a great way for young people to gain practical work experience while learning about the federal government,” Moran said. “I am happy to have Amanda working on behalf of Kansans.”
Mead is a 2005 graduate of Kansas State University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. While at KSU, Mead was involved in coaching softball and volunteering for the Special Olympics. She graduated cum laude and was named to the College of Business Administration Dean’s list and National Dean’s list all four years. Mead plans to return to graduate school for a master’s degree in business administration.
“I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity and am excited to learn how I can work in Washington, D.C., to affect change back home,” Mead said. “I hope to leave here with a deeper understanding of the actions and procedures that take place within a congressional office.”
In the office, Mead will assist Congressman Moran with legislative and administrative duties on behalf of the people of Kansas’ First Congressional District.
Amanda is the daughter of Allen and Sandy Mead of Kismet.
